Hi! I'm Rhianna.

All About Me
I am many things: a mom, a partner, a friend, a goofball, a gardener, a birth junkie, a sister, a daughter, an outdoors enthusiast, a book lover. I find the most joy in the little things and would be happy doing just about anything outside. I've lived in Colorado for 15 years and am finally learning to love winter, but consistently overdress for the temperature. I love mountain biking and working in the garden. I love coffee, but never drink it iced. Being a mom is one of the most amazing things I've ever done.

I grew up in North Carolina, but came to Colorado for undergrad. I left Colorado for two years to serve in the Peace Corps in Senegal, West Africa. Besides meeting my husband in the Peace Corps, I learned a lot about human connection, cultural respect, humility, and my own capabilities. I also learned to eat with my hands and take a shower from a bucket. It was a very formative experience.

I received my Masters from CU Denver and have spent most of my career behind a computer working as a data analyst in the public health sphere. This has given me tremendous insight on the concerning state of maternal health, although I missed general human interaction.
Before giving birth to my own kiddos, I unexpectedly attended my friend's son's birth at Boulder Birth & Holistic Health (It's actually a funny and sweet story -- ask me about it!). Afterwards I was absolutely elated! I felt like I had just witnessed the most magical, raw, and intense rite of passage. I couldn't stop thinking about birth and talking to anyone who would listen all about various support methods and interventions. I became engaged in reproductive justice work, but always felt drawn to birth in particular.

In early 2025, I decided to take the leap and sign up for Rocky Mountain Doula's Professional Doula Training (60 hours!). I've learned so much about strength and autonomy in birth. I've honed my evidence-based skillset and learned the best ways to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to clients. I am so passionate about birth and the empowerment that comes from a fulfilling birth experience. I feel lucky and honored that I get to pursue this work. If we sound like we could be a good fit, or you just want to learn more about me and my methods, please reach out!
My
Birth
Philosophy
The best births are the ones where the birthing person and their partner feel safe, involved, informed and supported -- however that looks to you. I do not believe there is one "right" way to give birth. Each person and each birth is unique and should be respected as such.

I very much believe that your birth is YOURS, I am here to support you in all your choices, but not make them for you. I am here to remind you that you are strong and capable. You can do this.
